Boss And Chief Executive Give Their Views

Gulls boss Paul Buckle and Chief Executive Colin Lee gave their thoughts after United clinched their place in the Trophy final at Wembley. 'Bucks' spoke to us first - 'It's a fantastic achievement. We haven't done so well recently in the league but this is a reward for all the hard work. I'm very proud. We had a game plan that myself and Shaun worked on with the players and it worked spot on. We were very solid today and I always believed we would go through. Hopefully we can push forward in the league.
'We made a couple of changes, Mark (Ellis) has done nothing wrong but he is a young lad and we felt he needed a rest. Steve Adams came in for Matt Hockley who again hasn't let us down and overall we produced a controlled performance.
'The support has been fantastic all season. Keep believing, sometimes we get it wrong but please keep supporting and back us right to the end'
Chief Executive Colin Lee spoke after the 2-1 aggregate win over York City - 'For sixty minutes we were in control of the situation, we kept the game quiet. The own goal was unfortunate and it put us under pressure but the players did very well in stopping the ball going to their wide players. Full credit must go to our coaching staff and players for this achievement. From the deflation of last season and having new ownership no-one was quite sure where things were going to go so this is a massive accomplishment but the job isn't finished here. Once you get to a final you want to win it, that isn't meant to be negative but nobody remembers losers. The target now is to make sure we make the play-offs. This is also a reward for the supporters. They have played a huge part in what is happening at Plainmoor and have stuck by the club in recent times and whatever happens this season there is something for them to enjoy and be proud of.'
