United 3-0 Stevenage Borough

United boss Paul Buckle gave us his thoughts after the superb 3-0 win over Stevenage at Plainmoor- 'This was a massive game for us today, we felt earlier in the season that our performance levels were okay, apart from the Ebbsfleet game which was really poor, similar conditions to today but we were very poor that night. The confidence has come now with the run of wins and people are scoring goals now, which always helps. You heard the crowd today, they could smell something was going to happen and pushed us on. They carried us on just at the right time and we didn't let them down. We really went for Stevenage, we played a very attacking game with Nicholson coming in at left back, it was an attacking side we put out and we got what we deserved.

'I didn't name the team until an hour before kick off because of the conditions, we had a game plan and we felt we got that right today. The players took on board what we asked of them and we played the conditions very well in both halves. We knew that if we got the ball in behind Stevenage we could hurt them and we did that. All of my team were on their game today, it shows the versatility of the squad that we can change the system when needed and still pick up good results and performances. My final words to the players before they went out  were that they have to want it more than Stevenage. We knew we had to put in a good performance against an in form team in difficult conditions and I thought we wanted it more.

'We have been working hard in training on getting the ball into the box using wide players. I thought it was correct to play Dsane on the left also because of the conditions as well, Roscoe is physically strong. Nicky Wroe and Chris Hargreaves got to a lot of second balls today and we really bossed the game.

'Stevenage were always going to have a spell at some stage of the game but we were well organised. They are a good enough team to be able to create something but Scott (Bevan) pulled off a couple of very good saves and after that it was all us again. I don't think Stevenage can have any complaints at all today, we totally dominated the game.

'It was a terrific atmosphere at Plainmoor today and that is what we want, the crowd have a massive part to play, I have always encouraged them to push the players on and they have done it again this afternoon. We are up and running now, we want to keep pushing forward and when we get that sort of atmosphere the players respond to it.'
