KEVIN HILL emerged as Torquay United's hero with two goals as the Gulls again fought back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 at home.

In a repeat of their spirited Tuesday performance against Northampton, United made up a two-goal deficit to draw with Oxford.

Hill starred, heading home a 74th minute in similar fashion to his last minute leveller against Northampton.

This time the cross was provided by right back Anthony Lloyd and sub Morike Sako added the flick-on before Hill headed home his second goal of a breath-taking, action-packed feast of attacking football.

United could well have won but Tony Bedeau's 78th minute header crashed off the bar, Hill whistled a 30-yard screamer just wide and in the final minute Oxford keeper Billy Turley made a magnificent diving save to palm over Darren Garner's goal-bound strike over in the top corner.

Andy Marriott came to United's rescue in the opening minute by stopping Steve Basham's volley after Eric Sabin had headed on a long through ball.

Luckily Oxford top scorer Basham failed to get too much leather on the ball and Marriott, characteristically, was in the right place at the right time.

Sabin raced through from the halfway line to beat Marriott in the fourth minute after Oxford cleared their lines from a Torquay attack.

The Gulls stormed back and within three minutes had levelled as Adam Lockwood stayed up to head in playmaker Garner's brilliant deep cross in from the left.

Hill followed up his header across goal with a shot that needed to be turned past the post and then visiting keeper Turley made a good save to hold on to Jo Kuffour's volley.

Oxford regained the lead on 17 minutes from a Lee Bradbury penalty after Lockwood had tripped top scorer Basham.

There were no complaints.

Two minutes later, Oxford extended their lead after Marriott's mis-kick fell to Sabin and he was able to side foot home with United's number one stranded and unable to guard his goal.

Torquay pulled a goal back in the 27th minute after Hill won a free kick 30 yards out.

Garner curled the ball into the far post and Hill's late run resulted in the makeshift striker tucking the ball away.

The goal was just the spur the home side needed and they began the second half as they were going to finish it, on top and searching for goals.

Turley did well to turn over Craig Taylor's header and Sako spun a volley just over.

A few minutes later Sako played a pivotal role in Hill's leveller, by getting his head to Lloyd's cross.

The draw extends Torquay's unbeaten run to four matches.
